An excellent, slow-burn thriller set in the cold and open spaces of Wyoming, about a US Fish and Wildlife agent (Jeremy Renner, delivering a super performance as a man who has seen too much tragedy in his life and the life of others) who is asked to assist an FBI agent (Elizabeth Olsen) solve the murder of a young Native woman (one of many killings of Native women that happen in real life, many of which are not investigated by authorities). There is much sadness portrayed on the screen, focussed on the Native community, but the storytelling is so impressively crafted that it makes the film gripping. (The writer is Taylor Sheridan, who has written such terrific scripts such as Sicario, and Hell or High Water.)
