I’m not sure what all the hype — mostly from critics than the public — is about. Yes, this story, (adapted from a book of the same name) directed by the director of the very fine “12 Years A Slave,” Steve McQueen, offers some very good acting (particularly by Viola Davis), lots of plot twists, and strong women — all widows of husbands/partners who were part of a criminal gang — who must band together to clear their husbands/partners’ debt (which is owed to, of course, some very nasty criminals). A decent film, but nothing special.
