Walaa, a teenager (when we first meet her) living in a West Bank refugee camp, and the focus of this moving but sad documentary, has a mother who served time in an Israeli prison for assisting a suicide bomber, and a dream to become a Palestinian police officer. Her family, of course, are not to keen on Walaa’s career choice, but Walaa is nothing if not determined. Walaa has to, over the six or so years we follow her life, battle not only her family but her own temper and rebelliousness and instances of poor judgement to fulfill her ambition. (Subtitles.)
