A melodramatic imagining of a slice of the life of a very powerful international finance guy — played by the always impressive Gerard Depardieu (who is channelling Dominique Strauss- Kahn, ex-head of the IMF, infamously known for his alleged assault on a maid at an upscale NYC hotel) — who cannot control his voracious appetites for power, money, alcohol, drugs, and sex (not necessarily in that order). The road ahead for Mr. Depardieu’s character is not pretty, and his only support is his long-suffering wife (Jacqueline Bisset), who has her own reasons for doing what she does. It’s a wild ride, and not for the squeamish.
