No, this is not a primer on what went wrong on Wall St., but it is an over-the-top 3-hour tale (inspired by real events) of greed told with gusto and style. DiCaprio is mesmerizing and a hoot to watch as the lead character, whether he is ingesting great quantities of drugs, fooling naïve investors into dreaming of sudden riches, or even talking into the camera to address the audience. Nothing low key about this film, but Scorsese and his actors must have been having a whale of time making this one.
