The Sessions

Terrific acting and charming tale (inspired by a true story) of a severely disabled journalist/poet, circa 1980s+ California, who lived most of his life in an iron lung since the age of 6 as a result of polio (while outside the iron lung, we see him only lying motionless on a gurney), and is consumed by his desire to experience sex with a woman for the first time.  To do so, and with the support of a priest he has befriended, he hires a sex surrogate (compassionately and nicely played by Helen Hunt).  John Hawkes is amazing in this role, which required him to remain motionless (except for his facial expressions).  The characters are ones you will care about, mark my words.
