Watching this film will make you feel you are present at an intimate theatrical experience (although one entirely in black and white). Patricia Clarkson, Kristin Scott Thomas and Timothy Spall are the skilled actors whose characters are invited to a party at the London home of the one who is celebrating her elevation to a high position in the governing political party. Some absurdist moments mixed with dark comedy, plus a dash of high drama — a mix that works well most of the time — the movie clocks in at less than 70 minutes — but a bit too precious at others.
