If an edgy film includes one that can make you cringe (a bit or a lot) at situations the characters find themselves in, then this story of young couple (Adam Scott and Taylor Schilling — she of “Orange is the New Black” fame) should be labelled as edgy. Set mostly over one night in L.A., a young somewhat naïve couple, recently moved to town from Minnesota, is brought together with another couple (one of whom, played to perfection, is Jason Schwartzman) as a result of their young sons meeting and playing together in a neighbourhood park. Let’s just say that much happens over that one night, some things expected, others not, and audience reaction, I’m sure, will be either “I was so uncomfortable” or “this was so off-beat that I quite enjoyed it,” with little in-between. I won’t give you more details, but this film I expect has made (and will make) for many great after-show discussions.
