Actress Chloe Grace Moretz gives a strong performance (with good supporting acting, particularly by John Gallagher Jr. as a Reverend who knows deep down that there is way to succeed in his mission) — in an okay film — as a high-schooler in the early 1990s forcibly sent to a religious “conversion camp” after being caught having sex with another girl. You can imagine what such a “camp” would look like — committed and kind Christian staff working their hardest, without success, of course, to convince young men and women that their sexuality is wrong, and must be corrected. The film was too predictable for my taste, and too plodding, but you may appreciate the effort.
