Delicious 18th century fun with Queen Anne (a laugh-out-loud Olivia Coleman doing her best as incompetent a Royal as possible) and her courtiers, including best friend played by Rachel Weisz (at her Machiavellian best) and a new servant and human disruptor played by Emma Stone. Who will win the battle for the Queen’s favour is the question at the heart of this story, and watching Weisz and Stone do battle in this contest is the joy of the film. Recommended for the laughs.
