I’m not sure why director Sofia Coppola decided to remake a 1971 film (starring Clint Eastwood) in which an injured soldier (now played by Colin Farrell) is taken in by a girls’ boarding school during the U.S. Civil War. As is predictable, all (emotional and physical) hell breaks loose within the walls of this Southern school, in the most predictable ways. If you’ve seen the original, don’t bother with this remake. If you haven’t seen the original, and the theme interests you, watch the original and don’t bother with this one.
