Set in the slums of Medellín, Colombia, where the police try not to go, this is a gritty, vicious, tough to watch fictional tale of a brutal gang lord — the Animal of the title — who kidnaps young women with the goal of giving birth to his children. This indictment of how the poor are left to fend to themselves within a highly misogynistic culture is definitely not for the faint of heart (or even not so faint of heart). (Subtitled.
