One of my favourites of the last while, this is the true story of the investigative team — named Spotlight — at the Boston Globe that exposed the Catholic Church’s cover-up of scores of priests who sexually abused children. A terrific cast — including Mark Ruffalo, Liev Schreiber, Rachel McAdams, Michael Keaton — brings this story to exciting life without melodrama and grand speechifying. This is one of those stories where reporters doggedly doing their jobs (and taking on the powerful Catholic Church in Boston was no minor matter) is enthralling to witness.
