Red Fields

(Seen at TIFF) A bizarre, wild, and occasionally poignant drama/musical from Israel, based on a rock opera, about a sad woman in a small and poor desert town in Israel, whose promise of a happy life is ended when her new husband is severely wounded during his army service and is now a paralyzed unconscious shell of a man she is destined to push in a wheelchair for the rest of his life.  Our protagonist, with husband and wheelchair in tow, sets out for the big city of Tel-Aviv, with little money and no plan.  From songs about injustice and love (some played by a band sitting on sand in a city in the desert) to a world of science-fiction, to political commentary, this is one unusual (but not fast paced) ride  (Subtitles.)
