Parasite

South Korean director Bong Joon Ho’s very, very dark comedy — which took the top award at Cannes in the spring — follows the aspirations of poor family as they worm their way into the lives of a very rich family in contemporary South Korea.  All seems to go as planned until an outsider poses a threat, at which point you know things are not going to end well — there will be blood.  The acting is uniformly excellent, the story effectively and gleefully told, and while the film at times approaches horror, it remains just inside the world of dark humour.
