This Belgian film (sub-titled) blew me away with the amazing acting and the slow burn to a tragic ending that the audience is made (partly) aware of right from the beginning. Based on (or inspired by) a true story, the plot covers themes such as lovers bridging cultural differences, the challenge and emotional struggle of raising children, and the emotional cost of giving up your autonomy in return for financial (emotional?) safety. Slowly paced but a tale I found gripping.
