A fascinating and sad documentary juxtaposing the rise of narco music (i.e. music glorifying drug lords and culture) in the US and the increasing and shockingly high death toll in Mexican cities just across the US border due to that country’s war on drugs. We are taken on rides with Mexican forensic specialists as they travel, on a daily basis, to scenes of horrific murders. Why they continue to do this type of work is fascinating and perplexing as they, like many in the “justice” system, are targeted for assassination by the drug lords; as well, hardly any of their cases will make it to court. We also travel with the increasingly popular US-based singers/writers of narco music and their growing fan base. (Frequently subtitled.)
