A grunting painter/artist (J.M.W. Turner, wonderfully played by Timothy Spall) who takes advantage of his housekeeper doesn’t sound like much of a story, but watching Mr. Spall as Turner paint, travel, annoy his colleagues, etc. over the course of a number of years is actually surprisingly enjoyable. A good period piece, as well.
