A charmingly quirky tale of an awkward high school student who is pushed, by his mother, to do a good deed and hang out with a cancer stricken classmate (who he barely has spoken to before). It sounds like the plot of an after-school TV special, but it’s handled very differently than your typical bonding-over-a-disease tale and has plenty of twists and turns that I didn’t see coming. As one critic has written and with which I agree, the value of this story is in the journey rather than the destination. A bit too cute in some instances for my taste, but well-worth the time.
