I had mixed feelings about this one:  too stagey in many scenes — that is, it felt very much in those scenes like a theatrical performance, but an  excellent performance by Daniel Day Lewis and a fascinating use of the passing of the 13^th Amendment to tell the story of the compromises needed in politics (life?) to accomplish what one believes in, even at the cost of innocent lives.
