A very indie feel to this story of an emotionally troubled but for the most part decent twenty-something guy trying to figure out his life in NYC as he cares for his terminally ill mother and tries to establish a relationship with his girlfriend.  The lead is played with intensity and skill by the relatively unknown (at least to me) actor Christopher Abbott.  The camera is generally up close and personal with Abbott’s face, which accounts for  the film’s intensity and periodic feeling of claustrophobia for the viewer. If you’re looking for a feel-good, upbeat movie, this is not it. I appreciated it more than I enjoyed it, if you know what I mean.
