Another unique and imaginative offering from the creative mind of director and co-writer Wes Anderson. This one is a very funny and enjoyable film that comes to us in impressive stop-motion animated form. A cat-loving mayor of a fictitious Japanese city uses a health issue among dogs to take the opportunity to banish all dogs to Trash Island, where the dogs must fend for themselves. Into this situation comes a young boy looking for his beloved dog, Spots. A top-notch cast of actors (including Bryan Cranston, Live Schreiber, Bill Murray, Scarlett Johansson) give voice to wonderful and engaging characters, even if its allegorical premise is not subtle.
