A quiet slice of life, circa 1961 in Greenwich Village, from the Coen brothers about a folk singer/guitar player who is disappointed in what life has given and taken from him and in his friends/acquaintances for not embracing his talents. Lots of good acting and an enjoyable film, but I don’t think it warranted all the critical praise its received. (Perhaps a second viewing is in order.) That being said, every Coen brothers film deserves a watch, and this one has great atmosphere and very enjoyable music.
