Hannah Arendt

  • Post category:.

A slice of life (but not a documentary) of the eponymous philosopher/writer, around the time that Arendt covered, for the New Yorker magazine, the Eichmann trial in Jerusalem.  Major themes of the film are the backlash against her for her views on Eichmann (e.g. the “banality of evil” reference) and on how the leaders among the Jews under Nazi control could have resisted more, as well as how these views impacted her relationship with colleagues, family and friends.  Well-acted and a good film as well as a fascinating real life story.
