Graduation

A Romanian film (by the director of 4 Months, 3 Weeks, 2 Days — Cristian Mungiu) about living with the daily indignities of state corruption, and the toll it takes on those who want to be good people.  In this case a doctor pulls every string he can to help his daughter pass an exam required to gain a prestigious scholarship to a British university in the days after she is assaulted.  No one here escapes the metaphorical slime that comes from living life in a corrupt world. Terrific acting that makes you feel that the characters are real.  (Subtitled.)
