Director Lauren Greenfield (who made the documentary Queen of Versailles several years ago) returns with a broader canvas on which to paint a portrait of Western society’s unyielding quest for wealth, whether financial, social, etc. In this doc, examples include the director’s own family, as well as some celebrities plus folks I had never heard of, from a porn actress to a female hedge fund exec to a child beauty pageant queen, to better explore our acquisitive natures. Some of the segments work better than others, and I believe there’s too much packed into this film, but the subject is worthy of our consideration.
