Gaza

This is a powerful documentary look at life within the Gaza Strip, focussing on the human dimension.  While politics and hostilities is always a backdrop, our gaze is firmly on the lives of a collection of ordinary individuals just trying to survive in horrific conditions.  We meet the young — a teenager who helps his family eke out an existence by fishing in the very restricted area of the Mediterranean the Israeli navy allows; a girl in a relatively privileged family who practices her cello and her impressive English language skills — to the adults — from a taxi driver who has seen much in his years, to the elders who have seen it all.  Hard to watch at times, but important so as never to forget the human beings who, through no fault of their own, suffer the disputes of others.
