Ryan Gosling, good as ever, plays the strong-but-silent astronaut Neil Armstrong in this story of NASA’s mission to the moon in the 1960s. While the action on the ground is fine — the portrayal of Armstrong may be a bit too quiet — the film soars when the astronauts train and fly; highly impressive and immersive scenes set in the rocket ships and in space. Great attention to the look and feel of the 1960s. A bit long at over two hours, but that’s not a critical complaint.
