Nicole Kidman is captivating in the role of a burned out (although she does have good reason to be burned out, as you will learn) cop whose past makes a reappearance, leading to (perhaps too) many flashbacks. Once undercover chasing an L.A. gang — that assignment didn’t end well — now focussed on the return of that gang, Kidman puts a lot of intensity into her character. It’s too bad this gritty crime-drama can’t live up to her high standards.
