Last month I wrote about the wonderful documentary, Mr. Gaga, which showed us some of the incredible work of the Batsheva Dance Company of Israel. Bobbi Jene Smith, an American star in that dance company, is the focus of this documentary (which last week won best documentary feature at the Tribeca Film Festival) that captures the struggles, joy and the heartbreak as she decides to leave her Batsheva family and head back to the US to explore new avenues of dance. Highlights of this film include being a witness to the passion of artistic expression, as well as Bobbi Jene’s emotional rollercoaster as she tries to maintain a long-distance relationship with her Israeli boyfriend.
