This documentary tells well the story of the legendary Blue Note Records label, from its founding in 1939 by two non-musician Jews running from Germany, Alfred Lion and Francis Wolf, to its becoming the premier jazz record label. Jazz greats such as Herbie Hancock, Wayne and Thelonius Monk were part of the Blue Note family. Interesting and entertaining talking heads — musicians and technicians alike — great music (but I wish the film contained more music) and impressive archival photos combine to make this a very interesting and enjoyable story.
