An excellent follow-up (directed by the great Denis Villenueve, of Arrival, and Sicario fame) to the original Blade Runner (1982), this one set 30 years after the original. Ryan Gosling is a great screen presence as the new Harrison Ford “blade runner” (although Harrison Ford is still Harrison Ford in this film, as most everyone has already heard), hunting down old versions of lifelike robots in this dark, chilly, bleak — it’s referred to as dystopian fiction for a reason — yet captivating journey through an American wasteland. (Even at almost three hours long, my mind did not wander.)
