Birds of Passage

  • Post category:.

This rise and fall story of families and the drug business, from the late 1960s to 1980, set in Colombia and based on actual events, is quite different from typical narco business stories as the families in this film are Indigenous.  There is violence, of course, in the pursuit of money and power, but there is also a clash of generations, with the wisdom of the elders being disrespected — with fateful consequences.  Good storytelling, but the 2 hours-plus of film time does drag in spots.  (Subtitles.)
