Once a socially awkward 20-something woman (superbly played by Jessie Buckley) on the island of Jersey (where the entire story takes place) meets a mysterious stranger — who may or may not be responsible for a series of brutal murders over the years — we are off on a dark and very tense journey as the relationship deepens and the woman takes more and more control of her own life.  Buckley is the shining star of this slow-burning psychological thriller.  The ending will make you think.  (May not be suitable to the more emotionally sensitive among you).
