In the aftermath of the 2008 financial crisis, the US government brought criminal charges against only one bank, a small savings bank which was created to serve the underserved NYC Chinese community. This documentary captures a good chunk of the five-year legal battle — the case came to trial in 2015 — and the toll it took on the close-knit and proud family that has managed the bank since its inception, a family, who with the support of the community, is not keen to give up their creation and passion. You’ll be rooting for them.
