Just a documentary or a film within a documentary? A film maker travels to a maximum security prison in Italy, auditions inmates (some of whom are serving sentences for murder) for roles in a production of Julius Caesar, and films the rehearsals (and eventual public performance) over a period of months. Some of these inmates are very good (amateur) actors, but what is particularly fascinating is how the story of Julius Caesar speaks to these inmates. Life imitating art or vice versa. Terrific storytelling.
