Even at three hours in length my attention for this Palme d’Or winning French film never wavered. The lead actress is incredible. Although the sex scenes (and the actresses’ dislike for the director) are what the news covers, they occupy only a small part of the film; it’s the acting and storytelling that impress as it covers a decade or so of the lives of two female lovers.
