This Italian film — set among the lavish lifestyle of Rome’s literary and social elite — has garnered awards and critical praise, but I couldn’t see much past the obvious here. The main character, an aging writer/intellectual, searches for life’s meaning and finds, wouldn’t you know it, beauty. Surreal, absurd and, for me, somewhat entertaining, it’s definitely worth a look. My view may be a minority opinion here. (Subtitled.)
