I really liked the first in this (so-far) two part series — The Trip — with the same Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon — but didn’t think this one lived up to the standard of the earlier one. The premise is simple: two men are hired to review restaurants in different geographic areas (Lake District of the UK in the first movie, Italy in this one). They drive from meal to meal and engage in witty banter and perform excellent impersonations of famous people; but they do it with much charm and humour (more so, I think, in the first film). Italy (and the food) look stunning in this film and there is lots to enjoy here even though thoughts of growing older have entered the discussion.
