A good, but not great, tale of an ambitious businessman (played by Oscar Isaac) NYC circa 1981, a time of terrible levels of violent crime in that city, and the challenges — some of which result from his own decisions and actions — he must overcome, together with his wife (Jessica Chastain, good as always). Despite the title, you won’t see much (physical) violence in this film, but it maintains an intensity throughout.
