A moving documentary tribute to the musicality and humanity of Sharon Jones, an American R&B singer (who performs and records with her backing band, the Dap-Kings) who, after many years of struggle in the music industry achieved success, only to then be diagnosed with cancer. We are taken along as companions to Miss Jones over a year or so during which she undergoes cancer treatment, works to keep her band together, finishes a new album and builds the strength needed to get back on stage doing what she does best. Director Barbara Kopple (Harlan County, USA) makes this a very human and touching story.
