Yes, there is a top-notch cast — Robert Redford, Cate Blanchett, Topher Grace, Bruce Greenwood (and more) — and a ripped-from-the headlines story (CBS anchor Dan Rather reported in 2004, months before the presidential election, that President Bush didn’t serve as much as was claimed in the Texas Air National Guard during the Vietnam War; Rather’s producer at the time, Mary Mapes, and her team weren’t as thorough as they should have been in their reporting), but it left me cold primarily because the characters were mostly either heroes or villains, with little in-between, and some of the key dialogue was pompous. However, some of the critics have taken a more positive view of the film, so you can be the judge.
