Director Deepa Mehta’s perhaps weakest film to date (that I’ve seen, anyway), but I give her credit for extending her reach in this stylized tale of Punjabi/Indian gangs that bring violence and fear wherever they go in British Columbia. Gangsters who live with their parents and extended family, colourful suits — apparently this is not uncommon with these gangs — but the film doesn’t seem to lead anywhere other than to a number of violent incidents.
