Brie Larson and her young co-star (Jacob Tremblay playing a 5-year-old boy) are wonderful as a mother and her child held for years against their wills in a small room. Most of this film takes place within the room’s confines and only the actors’ skills make the set seem both larger and smaller than it is.  Highly recommended. If you are not impressed, I will be surprised. (I didn’t read the book upon which it is based, so I can’t comment on how faithful to the book the film is.)
