Bryan Cranston is terrific as Dalton Trumbo, a very successful Hollywood screenwriter in the 1940s, who, along with a number of his colleagues, are blacklisted — and jailed — as communists (or communist sympathizers) during the time of the Red Scare in the U.S. A pleasantly old-fashioned film — both in feel and in how it looks — inspired, of course, by true events. Cranston is the #1 reason to see go see this movie, with everyone else in his orbit.
