Son of Saul

Star Wars, this ain’t.  Definitely not for the faint of heart, this is a powerful and difficult film, set in a Nazi death camp.  Most scenes are shown as if we were looking through the eyes of the protagonist,  a Jewish inmate who works (under the threat of death) for the camp commanders, with the most gruesome events either shown as if in blurry peripheral vision, or not seen but heard. Very little of the sounds we hear come from his mouth.  I’ve never seen anything quite like this.  Not a lot of dialogue, and the camera is generally tight in on the protagonist’s face. (Subtitles.)
