Greta Gerwig has seemed to slot herself into one kind of role recently — bumbler but intelligent, perceptive but innocent and sweet — but she does it well. Here she tries to carry out her plan to have a baby on her own when her relationships with men (one of which is Ethan Hawke) complicate the plan. Greta is better and more interesting than the other characters (and the rest of the movie).
