A taxi driver in some big and busy city in China, struggling to make a living for his family, is sent down a bureaucratic rabbit hole after he accidentally injures a motorcyclist and then tries to do the right thing. When honesty and our desire to help our fellow citizen collides with a modern society seemingly focussed solely on individual greed, the results don’t make for a good time. Very good acting (Chen Gang, whose work I have not seen before). (Subtitled. Seen at TIFF.)
