An important and inspiring story — the real-life fight by an American interracial couple Virginia for the legal right to marry (the case went to the Supreme Court in the late 1960s; interracial marriages were against the law in the state of Virginia, where the couple, Richard and Mildred Loving, lived ), but told in such a low-key style that seemed to suck a lot of the drama out of the film. The acting was good, especially Ruth Negga (Mildred) who was — at least in the film — more willing to take on the authorities than her husband.
