Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling make this modern-day musical, set in a version of L.A. where dreamers dream (even if some dreams don’t always come true) and where true love can be found (but with a cost), a lovely, charming, fun, and (occasionally) poignant film.  My advice:  don’t compare it to Hollywood’s old time musicals (although you will be tempted to do so), just go see it on a big screen in all of its dazzling colours, sit back and enjoy a wonderful couple of hours or so.
